Monaci delle Terre Nere is a boutique country hotel set amidst a Sicilian Estate in the foothills of Mount Etna, the biggest volcano in Europe. With views of the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Etna, this former historic winery is surrounded by citrus trees, olive groves and vineyards. The garden area in front of the house is protected by massive oak trees with a daybed for lounging around and a few tables and chairs. The restaurant is located on the panoramic terrace which overlooks the Mediterranean and serves Sicilian dishes, made with seasonal products and own fruits and vegetables. Activities include yoga and pilates, wine classes, wine and oil tasting, Sicilian cooking classes, bike tours and massage.
There are a total of 15 rooms combining traditional Sicilian architecture and contemporary art. Five new rooms are available since March 2014 in a newly converted lava stone building. All rooms have air conditioning, a mini bar, a separate entrance from the garden and come with either views of Mount Etna or the Mediterranean Sea. Some rooms also feature a cozy fireplace.
Rates start at EUR 170 (high season) per room per night.
