COMO Cocoa Island is on the South Malé Atoll, an untouched archipelago, which was formed to fine, powdered, sugar-white sand through centuries of tides. The private island is known to locals as “Makunufushi”. It takes around 40 minutes to get to the international airport Malé by speedboat. The Como Shambhala Retreat on Cocoa Island focuses on renewing body and soul. It is set on a holistic concept, which is supported by yoga and combined with healing traditions from Asia, with natural therapy methods inspired by the sea and earth. Ayurveda, massages and face treatments are on offer as well as a weekly free yoga or Pranayama meditation lesson. Guests with more sporting interests have the choice between diving, snorkelling, catamaran sailing, kayaking or windsurfing. The restaurant “Ufaa” celebrates nature and seafood, freshly caught fish and organic vegetables in exciting, healthy creations. The cuisine is an extraordinary mixture of European dishes and the best of Indian and Sri Lankan traditions.
The design of the 33 Overwater Suites of COMO Cocoa Island is inspired by local dhoni boats made out of natural wood with “Kajan” roofs. They can be reached over wooden bridges, which stretch over warm water of the lagoon. Relaxing is wonderful on the private sun decks with lounge furniture and dining table. Suites have direct access to the lagoon, above that a 25-metre infinity pool is provided for any kind of swimming pleasure.
Rates start at EUR 890 per room per night.
