Join me on my trip to Vakkaru Island, a tropical gem in the turquoise waters of the Maldives archipelago. Endless breathtaking views, white sandy beaches and a unique marine biodiversity make Vakkaru an insular paradise. On Vakkaru Island time stands still and the luxuries and comforts seem endless. Let me take you to the Maldives for a first hand exploration of a little slice of heaven here on earth.

Let’s take off to Vakkaru
Approaching the island by seaplane gives you a great view of the crazy Tiffany Blue tint the Indian Ocean takes on here.

On my way to my private heaven
Private little ocean villas are built directly into the sea. Connected by wooden footbridges it feels almost like a cozy Indian fishing village.

Discovering the luxurious over water pool residence: A place to dream

Garden of Eden: Exploring the sunny beachside

My personal tip: Order delicious dishes directly to your beach villa. A romantic dinner under a starry Maldivian sky is an unforgettable experience.
Feet up, it's time for wellness
Whether it’s the deeply calming view of the sea or the sea salt massage that is part of the spa experience, the Indian Ocean is omnipresent on Vakkaru. The view I had from my massage table was a real highlight. I counted sea animals through the glass bottom and watched the ocean.

A feast for the eyes: Soul food
Private breakfast for 8 at my suite was a stunning choice of dishes and freshly prepared delights.

My personal highlight
The Lagoon Bar with its breathtaking ocean view definitely comes in first place on the list of my personal highlights. The relaxed atmosphere, the cool sea breeze and a chilled gin and tonic make it easy to forget the stress and strife of your city life and fill every fibre with inspiration and joy. Time stands still on Vakkaru. I’m still dreaming of this wonderful place.
Sunsets over the Indian Ocean are second to none. My favorite hour. I could stay here forever.
