The independent chalet-style property “Chalet Belmont” also belongs to the Waldhaus Resort. Initially built in 1877, the hotel was restored completely in 2016 and became part of Autograph Collection Hotels® in 2020. Come with us and let us show you our personal insights of this phenomenal and exquisite refuge in the Swiss Alps. Make yourself comfortable and read a first-hand exploration of our wonderful stay on site: Waldhaus Flims, Switzerland.

A road sign shows us the way off the main road of Flims and to the entrance gate of the hotel. As we follow the road lined with dark trees, the fairytale setting captures our eyes. The lights of lanterns on the side of the road are leading the way to the impressive property of Waldhaus Flims.
The Grand Hotel: Scene one, take one - action!
What is the first impression that comes to your mind when you see the Grand Hotel, one of three main buildings of Waldhaus Flims? Perhaps you know the famous movie “The Grand Budapest Hotel" directed by Wes Anderson? This historic venue reminds us of a surreal movie set, too beautiful to be real. And in fact, Hollywood stars have already bathed in the spa during the making of “Youth”, a movie by Paolo Sorrentino.

Room tour a la Belle Époque
However, the Grand Hotel has much more to offer than just a movie-like setting. Majestic corridors wind their ways through the hotel, leading to rooms that never look the same.

Generous living with a majestic view
The Grand Suites invite you to spend all your time in the hotel and from the third floor of the Grand Hotel you get most the perfect view of the Alps. By the way, there are over 40 different suites to choose from.

Junior Suites
Stucco ceiling, space for a small family, pets or just yourself. The Deluxe Junior Suites extend on over 40 square meters of comfort with the best views over the scenic environment.

Garden of Alpine Dreams

Originally built in 1877, the property donated prominence to "Flims" as a destination. Parties and tea-times were held in the park, especially in front of the Belle-Époque Pavilion. While walking through the largest hotel park in Switzerland, one can imagine how the place was used as a "meeting place" back then. The local mountain scenery that surrounds the venue is at least as captivating as the spacious gardens of the hotel...

Villa Silvana

Passing the main entrance of the Grand Hotel, the alpine air makes the trees and flowers sway in the wind… A path leads us through the hotel park to Villa Silvana. The Villa was built especially for the Dutch queen when she came to Flims with her entourage. The playful little towers of the former guest house enhance the romantic impression of the historic building even more...

A royal bath
Built in the Belle-Époque period - a time of prosperity, art and culture, each room is characterized by classic and elegant interior. The Dutch queen, who had stayed here for a visit, insisted on her own bathtub in her chamber. This idea had never been realized until that time. The original bathtub from back then still exists but only in the museum, whereas the idea of it is to be found in the suites of the hotel.

Where Hollywood took a bath and spa prizes were awarded

Awarded as the 3rd Best Hotel Spa in Europe by the European Health & Spa Award in 2017, its unique location gives Waldhaus Spa a strong character and combines nature and architecture through glass, stone, soil and air. The picturesque wellness oasis, which was used as a backdrop for Paolo Sorrentino's movie "Youth", invites you to linger on 3,000 square meters of wellness.

Dive with Kois in the Lake
A jump into the cold natural pond provides a refreshing kick. As you float around in the outdoor bathing pond, filled with local mountain spring water, Kois surround you.

Just follow your nose!

All buildings are connected through an underground tunnel system. On our way to one of the four restaurants we stroll around underneath the venue through seemingly endless corridors and discover crystal decor. Down here it's easy to get lost... Where are we heading again? Soft scents of delicious food reach our noses and guide us to the restaurant. All the walking made us really hungry...

Epoca by Tristan Brandt sharpens the senses of taste
Swap the bathrobe with your evening wear and get ready for Haute Cuisine with Asian influences. The restaurant is situated in a glass cube right behind the Belle Époque Pavilion and provides spectacular views of the mountains.

Exploring Flims as destination
Equipped with e-bikes from the hotel we set off to Lake Cauma, known as one of the most beautiful lakes of Switzerland. Exploring the alpine region by bike is not only comfortable and fun due to the bike's power unit, but it also provides the best views of this wonderful destination. Passing huge rock faces and driving through fairytale forests, we finally reach the picturesque lake not far from the hotel.
